It could not be easier to get to Barnsley Road by rail and bus.
The transport hub just off Barnsley Road features South Elmsall railway station, with direct connections regularly to cities including Leeds, Doncaster and Wakefield, and beyond.
South Elmsall bus station, at the transport hub, has busses coming to and from nearby towns and villages on a regular basis, serving the local community.
A ten minute or so walk away is Moorthorpe railway station, with regular services from York, Leeds, Wakefield, Pontefract, Rotherham and Sheffield and beyond. While you are there pop into the restored station house for a pick me up at the Mallard, home of local Jolly Boy’s Brewery.
There is ample parking in South Elmsall if you are coming by road.
The two main car parks for drivers coming to Barnsley Road are operated by Wakefield Council. In addition there is free parking for park and ride at South Elmsall railway station. There is additional parking for shoppers heading into Aldi and Home Bargains.
South Elmsall may be small but it’s big brand presence is mighty.
From their early days Asda have had a flagship presence in South Elmsall, having a local headquarters and at one time two retail outlets on the South Elmsall high street, and they continue to offer grocery to locals on Barnsley Road to this day.
In recent years Aldi joined Asda on the high street, separated by a well positioned car park from a large Home Bargains, who themselves are in the former Asda Queens store. Chemist giants Boots are one of a number of stores keeping shoppers in good health.
